Abstract
406,052. Pulverulent and liquid fuel burners. CLARKE, CHAPMAN, & CO., Ltd., and WOODESON, W. A., Victoria Works, Gateshead-on-Tyne. Aug. 22, 1932, No. 23480. [Class 75 (i).] Secondary air is introduced from a casing 13 into the mixing chamber of a pulverulent fuel burner through a number of separate nozzles 25 directed normally to the axis of the stream of pulverized fuel and primary air delivered through a Venturi nozzle 15, these nozzles constituting baffles interposed between the nozzle 15 and an adjustable deflector 26 positioned near the mouth of the burner. The casing 13 is secured to a plate 6 bolted to a frame 1 and is supplied with air from a duct 5 past a valve 11 which is adjustable about an axis 12 by means of handles 32. The valve 11 has a concave surface 11a which directs the air smoothly to ports 22, 23 formed in walls 18, 19 extending from a cover 14 on the casing 13. The ports 22, 23 are regulable by ported sleeves 22a, 23a adjusted by hand wheels through toothed gearing, the ports 22 admitting air past a director 36 around the nozzle 15 and the ports 23 admitting air to an annular space between the wall 19 and a wall 20 from which it can pass through the nozzles 25 and an annular gap 24. The deflector 26 is provided with a flared portion 27 and an adjusting rod 35. Refractory material 17 is built in between the frame 1 and the end part of the wall 19. An opening 7 in the lower part of the plate 6 is covered by an ash door. In a modification an oil fuel burner is arranged centrally in the nozzle 15 with its sprayer tip surrounded by the flared portion 27 of the deflector 26, the deflector and the oil burner being relatively adjustable. Specifications 278,168, 309,641, and 339,010, [all in Class 75 (i), Burners &c.], are referred to.
