Abstract

405,952. Fluid - pressure brakes. TOMLINSON, A. V., 65, Victoria Street, London. Aug. 13, 1932, No. 22735. [Class 103 (i).] A triple valve comprises a valve 15 interposed in the path of the flow of fluid to the brake cylinder and normally maintained open by a diaphragm 18 subject to brake cylinder pressure and to a controlling pressure which, during brake application, is a definite fraction of the normal fluid pressure obtaining in the system. The diaphragm 18 is subject on its upper side to brake cylinder pressure and on its under side to the pressure in a chamber 21 which during release is connected to the auxiliary reservoir by passage 22 at which time a chamber 25 is connected to atmosphere by passages 26, 27, 28. On brake application the chamber 25 is closed to the atmosphere and connected to the chamber 21 by cavity 27 so that the diaphragm 18 is subject to a fraction of the auxiliary reservoir pressure depending on the volumes of the chambers 21, 25.
