[Class 44.] A bolt 1 slidable in a casing 2 and shot or withdrawn by handles 5 the spindle 6 of which passes through slots in the casing 2 and door, may be held against operation in the shot or retracted positions by a U-shaped member 9 pivoted to the casing and movable into position to engage behind the tail end of the bolt, or in a slot 11 in the bolt. The invention is also applicable to a spring-shot latch bolt withdrawable in the usual way by handle or key.
