Abstract

The process for the production of absolute alcohol described in the parent Specification is applied to mixtures of ethyl alcohol with other organic liquid, e.g. the crude product obtained by the fermentation of sulphite liquors which contain up to 10 per cent of methyl alcohol, or mixtures of ethyl alcohol and ethyl acetate. The dehydrating salts instead of being dissolved in absolute alcohol may be dissolved in absolute alcohol mixed with other substances, e.g. methyl alcohol. The salts described in Specifications 393,265 and 393,266 may be used as dehydrating agents.
