[Class 145 (i).] The bottoms of dovetail slots cut in rounded edges of the work pieces are bounded by arcs whose radii equal those of the rounded edge portions. The wood pieces 8, 9, Fig. 3, are secured at right angles to each other on a slide 3 movable on the table 2, and the slots cut simultaneously in both pieces, as in Fig. 6, by oppositely inclined disc cutters 19, Fig. 1 ; each cutter shaft 14 is mounted on a plate 12 pivotally mounted on the table 2 by shafts 11, the cutters being driven by belts 16 from the main shaft 18. The plates 12 are periodically swung towards and away from the work by members 39, Fig. 4, connected to the plates and to members 37 carried by a pin 30, eccentrically disposed on a shaft 21 mounted on the table 2 ; the shaft is driven from the main shaft 18 by belt 25, worm 23 and worm wheel 22. During the intervals between cuts, the work is fed past the cutters by an arm 31 carried by the eccentric mechanism and engaging a rack 32 mounted on the slide 3 ; a pivoted stop 33 prevents backward movement of the slide which is held against the stop by a weight 36 or by a spring. The dovetailed pieces are assembled as shown in Fig. 8.
