Abstract

405,534. Pantographic apparatus. AKTIEBOLAGET LINHAM, 46, Fridhemsgatan, Stockholm.-(Assignees of Dieden, T. ; Karlslund, near Orebro, Sweden.) June 26, 1933, No. 18197. Convention date, June 30, 1932. [Class 97 (iii).] In a pattern - grading machine, particularly for shoe making, the pantographic lever for transmitting movement in the length or width direction from a controlling member, e.g., a model follower, to a controlled member, e.g., a scriber, punch, work holder, model holder or carriage, is pivoted directly to one member and connected to the other member by a link which may be adjusted to make different angles to the direction of movement of the members according to the magnification required. The arrangement provides distortionless grading at all points. In the apparatus shown, which is similar to that described in Specification 400,563, a beam 4 running on tracks 2, 3 on the base frame 1 has travelling thereon a carriage 5 carrying a punch 7 and a carriage 6 carrying a model follower 9. The material in which the graded pattern is to be formed is held in the clamp 10 and the model pattern is clamped to a table 11 travelling in tracks 12 on the frame 1. Pantographic mechanism connecting the carriages 5, 6 comprises a lever 18 pivoted at 19 to a slide 20, which may be adjustably secured by clamping screw 21 to the carriage 5, and at 22 to a second lever 23 having an end part sliding in the diametrical bore in a pivot stud 24 rotatably mounted on an extension 4a of the beam 4. The levers 18, 23 are clamped together in adjusted angular relation by the screw 25. A slide 17 on the lever 18 is rotatably mounted at 16 on a link 14 pivoted at 15 to the carriage 6. A clamp 30 secures the link 14 to a disc 31 fixed to the carriage 6 so that the movement of the slide 17 is confined to a path parallel to the beam 4 and distortion of the reproduction is avoided. In setting the link 14, an index slide 28 is moved over a scale 27 on the link to a position corresponding to the size of the model pattern and the link is rotated about the pivot 15 until the slide 28 coincides with a graduation on the disk 31 corresponding to the desired size of the graded pattern. Similar pantographic mechanism connects the extension 4a of the beam 4 to the table 11.
