Abstract
Solutions containing a peroxide such as hydrogen peroxide, e.g bleaching solutions, are stabilized by the addition of a salt of pyrophosphoric acid and an amino sulphonic acid or amino-carboxylic acid of the aromatic series or a salt thereof. A Barium or other alkaline earth salt of the sulphonic or carboxylic acid may be employed. The examples refer to the stabilization of a hydrogen peroxide solution, prepared by dissolving sodium perborate in water and adding hydrochloric acid, by adding sodium pyrophosphate and sodium sulphanilate and the stabilization of aqueous hydrogen peroxide containing caustic soda by adding sodium pyrophosphate and sodium 1 : 4-acetylaminobenzene sulphonate, sodium benzylamino-sulphonate, sodium metanilate, potassium diethylmetanilate, sodium ethylbenzyl-aniline-sulphonate, sodium meta-aminobenzoate, sodium ortho-aminobenzoate, sodium 2 : 5-amino-naphthalene-sulphonate, sodium sulphanilate or barium sulphanilate.ALSO:Bleaching solutions containing a peroxide such as hydrogen peroxide are stabilised by the addition of a salt of pyrophosphoric acid and an amino sulphonic acid or amino-carboxylic acid of the aromatic series or a salt thereof. A barium or other alkaline earth salt of the sulphonic or carboxylic acid may be employed. The example refers to the stabilization of a hydrogen peroxide solution, prepared by dissolving sodium perborate in water and adding hydrochloric acid, by adding sodium pyrophosphate and sodium sulphanilate and the stabilization of aqueous hydrogen peroxide containing caustic soda by adding sodium pyrophosphate and sodium 1 : 4-acetylaminobenzene - sulphonate, sodium benzylaminosulphonate, sodium metanilate, potassium di-ethylmetanilate, sodium ethylbenzyl-aniline-sulphonate, sodium meta-aminobenzoate, sodium ortho - aminobenzoate, sodium 2 : 5 - amino-naphthalene-sulphonate, sodium sulphanilate or barium sulphanilate.
