Abstract
405,486. Road - surface markings. TARALON, T. V., 21, Route de Sees, and LASSEUR, G. A., 43, Rue du Jeudi, both in Alencon, Orne, France. April 11, 1933, No. 10790. Convention date, May 4, 1932. [Class 3 (ii).] A road-marking plaque, of the kind having no stem, has a toothed periphery and is secured to the road surface and to the road carpet, when present, by a bonding medium adapted to soften at high temperatures. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the plaque 4, of metal or other strong material, is let into a recess in the carpet 2 and is secured therein and to the road surface 1 by a bituminous bonding medium 5. In applying the plaques to the road, the face thereof and the base of a recess in the carpet layer are first coated with the bonding medium of tar or bitumen of high melting point and the plaque is then set in the recess. Finally the teeth are connected to the road surface by filling the cavities between the teeth with the same bonding medium. In the modification shown in Figs. 2a and 3, the carpet 2, which is comparatively thin, is thickened locally with the bonding medium at 6 to receive the plaque, which is provided beneath with concentric grooves 9 and radial abutment ribs 10.
