Abstract

405,305. Mixing-machines. KNIPE, A. C., 9, Victoria Street, and MODERN CONCRETE DEVELOPMENT CO., Ltd., 2, London Wall Buildings, both in London. July 5, 1932, Nos. 19018/32 and 16467/33. [Class 86.] A concrete-mixing machine of the type employing a tiltable, rotatable, frusto-conical drum is furnished with a door for closing the drum opening during mixing, means being provided for exhausting the entrained air from the drum. The drum 4 is closed by a door 33 which is carried in a bearing 40 resiliently mounted on an arm 34 by means of springs 42. The arm 34 is pivoted on a shaft 36 and is operated by a hand lever 38 through the engagement of a crank arm 37 thereon with the door arm. The drum is exhausted through a pipe 44, a valve 53 being provided which is operated by an arm 60 actuated by the hand lever 38, the arrangement being such that the valve is depressed to allow air to enter the pipe 44 through ports 56 before the door is lifted, and conversely, the door is closed before the vacuum is applied.
