Abstract

405,210. Discharge lamps. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS'GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Aug. 8, 1933, No. 22157. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] A holder comprises a casing which is closed on the outside by a cover adapted to carry the supply transformer and the attaching means for the lamp arranged therebelow. A casing 11 is closed by a cover 1 which supports through members 2 a transformer T and a plate 3 provided with sockets 4 for the lamp 9. A double-walled glass jacket 6, the space between the walls of which is exhausted, is secured by means of a bayonet joint to an asbestos member 5 which is supported and spaced a certain distance from the plate 3 by members 7. An asbestos ring 10 closes the space between the lamp and the jacket. The casing is closed by means of a hood 13, which, when made of thermal insulating material may be in contact with the jacket 6. V-shaped extensions 14 on the hood are clamped within lugs on the casing by screws 15. The transformer supplies both the discharge current and the heating current for the filament. For ventilation purposes an annular space is provided between the cover and the casing. The holder may be mounted within a reflector, e.g. an angularly cut parabolic reflector.
