404,475. Locking brake mechanism. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AKT.-GES., Friedrichshafen-on-Bodensee, Germany. Feb. 13, 1933, No. 4422. Convention date, March 4, 1932. [Class 80 (iii).] A device for locking a brake-operating linkage in adjusted position in which a clamping element frictionally engages a stationary member under the stress in the linkage and is disengaged by movement of the operating lever in either direction, comprises a lever d, which, under the stress in the link b connected to the brakes, grips a stationary rod c to hold the link in adjusted position. When the hand lever a and a member e connected thereto and slidable on the rod, are moved to the right, the lever d is engaged by a projection e<1> on the member e, thereby releasing the lever d and moving the rod b to the right to apply the brakes. When the lever a and member e are moved to the left the lever d is also disengaged and the link b moves to the left to release the brakes. To avoid the tendency of the lever d and link b to return suddenly to the brakes-released position when the lever is disengaged, a spring g is provided on the member e to urge the lever to the clamping position.
