Abstract
404,343. Front glasses for vehicle lamps. TALBOT ANTI-DAZZLE CONE, Ltd., 67, Baker Street, and TALBOT, S. E., Crow-steps, Mostyn Road, Merton Park, both in London. July 14, 1932, No. 19926. [Class 75 (ii).] A front glass for a road vehicle headlamp has a central area 6, of which one face is formed with shallow undulations in a horizontal direction, and ribbed areas 9, 10 above and below the central area, so that light rays passing through the central area are projected horizontally and slightly spread, and rays from the bottom area 10 are deflected downwardly and spread to a greater angle than those of the upper area 9. The corrugations 9a of the upper area are sloped downwardly and inwardly. The corrugations 10a of the lower area decrease in depth towards the sides of the glass. The front faces of the upper and lower areas 9, 10 slope downwardly and outwardly, and the front face of the central area may be concave in a horizontal direction. The glass may be used in combination with beam-constricting devices such as concentric rings or slats disposed at or near the front of the lamp.
