Abstract
403,282. Delivering measured quantities of powdered materials. WOOSTER, P. A., 509, Montgomery Street, San Francisco, U.S.A. April 28, 1933, No. 12447. [Class 106 (v).] A device for dispensing measured quantities of materials, and intended more particularly for powdered soap, comprises a receptacle 1 having a vertically disposed discharge passage 6 which is intersected by a valve casing 9 and provided at its lower end with a detachable closure means such as a plug 8 giving access for cleaning or other purposes, an outlet 11 extending downwardly from said casing and offset from the discharge passage and a valve 12 slidably mounted in the casing and having an aperture 17 which may be brought into register with either the discharge passage or the outlet. The valve is operated by means of a stem 22 against the action of a spring 18 and is held against rotation by means of a screw projecting through the casing and engaging a longitudinal slot in the valve. The innermost position of the valve is determined by stops 23, 24 thus forming a chamber between the inner end of the valve and the casing and a similar chamber is formed at the outer end of the valve by a cap 21, both chambers having openings 26 for the discharge of any material that may have passed between the valve and its casing.
