482,338. Delivering measured quantities of liquids or granular &c. materials. BAKER & CO., Inc. Sept. 23, 1936, Nos. 25887 and 25888. Convention dates, Sept. 23, 1935 and Aug. 3, 1936. [Class 106 (v)] Apparatus for dispensing measured quantities of liquids or granular or like material such as mercury and granular alloy for dental fillings comprises in one form a casing 1 adapted to be attached to a container B and formed with supply and discharge openings 6, 7, Fig. 3, communicating with a cylindrical passage 3, a measuring stem 4 having a transversely extending cylindrical measuring chamber 5 slidably mounted within the passage 3 and a capacity adjusting member 12 in screwthreaded engagement within a bore of the member 4 so as to project into the measuring chamber by an amount determined by the rotation of a knob 14. In another form for delivering liquid and granular material simultaneously, two containers for the materials are carried, normally horizontally, by a casing 85, Fig. 13, rotatably mounted on a stem 80 having transverse measuring chambers 83, 84 adjustable by projecting members such as 92. On rotating the casing so that the containers are inverted, the chambers are filled and the measured quantities are discharged through passages 90, 91 when the casing is returned to the position shown. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 9, the chambers in the stem may be of fixed capacity and may be supplied with measured quantities from measuring devices as described with reference to Fig. 3, said devices being interposed between the containers and the casing. The measuring stem is operated by a cam 67 on rotation of the casing so that the measured quantity is discharged into the fixed capacity chamber when the containers are inverted and the outlet openings of the casing are closed. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification of the form shown in Fig. 9 in which the cam-operated adjustable measuring device is of the rotary measuring chamber type. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
