Abstract

403,056. Microscopes. ZEISS, C., [Firm of], Carl-Zeiss-Strasse, Jena, Germany. Sept. 11, 1933, No. 25075. Convention date, Sept. 14, 1932. [Class 97 (i).] In a revolving objective nose-piece for use in observation by incident light, each of the objectives is associated with a dark field condenser surrounding the objective in a ring-like manner. The Fig. shows a part-sectional elevation at right-angles to the plane of symmetry of the stand. The socket a on which the nosepiece is mounted is of spherical form and is provided with a slide b for attachment to the microscope tube. The socket is bored axially and contains an annular mirror c at 45‹ to its axis. A lateral extension d carrying a lens e has screwed to it a tube f containing a lamp g at the focus of the lens, so that parallel rays leaving the lens are directed downwardly as an annular axial beam by the mirror c. The body k of the nose piece is of hemispherical form and is rotatable on the socket a about an axis inclined at 45‹ to the plane of symmetry of the stand and to the axis of the lens e. The nose piece has three threaded apertures n each receiving a compound dark field system comprising an objective o mounted centrally in a glass plate q, and a reflecting condenser r surrounding the objective and screwed into a ring a so as to secure the plate q therein. The ring a is screwed into the aperture n.
