Abstract
402,998. Screw-conveyers. FULLER CO., Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Morrow, J. H. ; Hokendauqua, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.). April 28, 1933, Nos. 12404 and 12405. Convention dates, May 20, 1932 and Sept. 20, 1933. [Class 78 (i).] In a conveying system of the kind described in Specification 152,300, [Class 78 (i), Conveyers &c.], mechanical means are provided in the seal space between the feeding means 14 and the air supply nozzles 16 for resisting the advance of the material and causing it to accumulate at sufficient density to produce a seal. The inlet 15 is closed by a flap valve 18 having a liner 19 of rubber or the alloy known under the Registered Trade Mark " Stellite." The degree of reaction of the valve against the advancing material may be modified by adjusting a counterweight on a crank provided on the shaft 21. The supply of air to the nozzles is controlled by devices (not shown) responsive to the position of the flap valve and to the back pressure in the system, these devices including valves through which air may be supplied to the nozzles and mechanism for operating them automatically.
