Abstract

402,869. Vehicle &c. lamps. CADDY, E., and CADDY, S. C., 76, Broadwater Road, Worthing, Sussex. June 23, 1932, No. 17785. [Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv).] An electric lamp, particularly suitable for use on a vehicle for anti-dazzle or fog-penetrating purposes, is provided with a sectorial member 2 disposed in spaced relationship with respect to the rear face of the front glass 1 of the lamp and having an upper convex edge and a lower concave edge 6 which extends substantially its entire width, the edge 6 preferably leaving exposed a part of the electric lamp bulb 19. The member 2 may be moulded integrally with a marginal flange 3, it may be cut away as at 4, and it may be mounted on a screw threaded pin 8 so as to be adjustable both circularly and as to its distance from the front glass 1. In addition a segmental member 9 may be rigidly mounted in contact with the rear face of the front glass 1. The sectorial member 2 may be made of glass with one or both of its surfaces marled, mottled, satinised, frosted or otherwise made translucent, the front glass 1 may have its marginal edge marled, mottled, satinised or frosted, the segmental member 9 may be made of translucent glass, and the members 1, 2, 3 and 9 may be blue, amber or otherwise coloured. In one modification the sectional member is secured in position by means of a channelled arcuate flange member which engages around the edge of the front glass 1, and in a second modification a flat circular disc of glass has one portion treated to provide the sectorial member and the remaining portion left untreated.
