Abstract

<PICT:0402622/IV/1> In bleaching textiles, the goods are boiled in a closed kier, the liquor withdrawn so as to expose them to the action of steam and the liquor then returned to the kier, the alternate treatment of the goods with liquor and steam being repeated at constant pressure and temperature as often as desired. The liquor withdrawn from the kier may be passed to any receiver but when two kiers are used the apparatus shown in the fig. may be employed. The liquor withdrawn from the kier 3 by pipe 13 is passed by means of pump 4 and pipe 14 to the second kier 3<a> and after treatment of the goods in the latter is returned through pipe 8, pump 4 and pipe 10 to kier 3. The pipe 9 serves to equalise the pressure in the two kiers.
