[Class 44.] In a sliding-clasp fastener two rows of identical fastener connecting elements are embedded in resilient covering strips such as rubber and the slider is formed with double guides or passages the outer sides of which are defined by guide surfaces 11, Fig. 7, adapted to bear against the strips and press them closely together during the fastening movement of the slider and the inner sides of which are defined by a wedge whose sides comprise pairs of lugs 4, 4<1> adapted to prise the strips and the fastening elements apart during the unfastening movement, each pair of lugs also guiding between them those parts of the fastening elements which project from the strips. The slider may comprise two jaws 1, 2 secured together by a symmetrically shaped bridge 3 constituting the wedge. The slider may be made by bending the blank, which is shown in Fig. 1 and which is stamped from sheet metal into the form shown in Fig. 2, pairs of studs 6, 61 on the bridge 3 being inserted into openings 11, 12 in the jaws 1, 2 and secured to the jaws by rivetting ; the space f2 between the lugs 4, 41 corresponds to the height of the fastening elements. Alternatively the slider wedge may be solid and grooves cut out therefrom to guide the projecting parts of the fastening elements. The slider may have secured thereto a resilient yoke 13 co-operating with a loosely mounted actuating member 14 so that the slider may be locked in any desired position, the bent arms 18 of the actuating member 14 passing through openings 8, 81 in the jaw 2 and engaging the resilient covering strips under the stress of the yoke.
