402,258. Reciprocating pumps. BAUMGARTEN, K., 278, Wildstein, and ROESSLER, F., 106, Wildstein, Czecho-Slovakia. Dec. 21, 1932, No. 36187. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1931. [Class 102 (i).] A pump for supplying measured quantities of sealing material to a battery comprises a piston 13 working in a cylinder 11 mounted adjustably in a ring 10 secured in the bottom of the container for the sealing material. Openings 12 in the cylinder 11 allow the melted composition to pass into the cylinder 11 when the piston is raised, a slide valve 16 being then on the closed position. When the piston is lowered the valve 16 is opened and the composition in the lower end of the cylinder 11 is forced through the exit 15. The amount of composition discharged may be varied by altering the stroke of the piston and by altering the position of the cylinder 11 in the ring 10.
