Abstract

196,344. Valentine, H. Jan. 16, 1922. Bascules.-One or more pumps are actuated by a head of water acting through an oscillating lever 1. The lever carries buckets 2, which, in the top position, open a mushroom valve 8 in a pipe 6 conveying water from a tank 5. When the full bucket descends, a pin 10 opens a discharge valve 3 in the bucket, and while this bucket is emptying the other is filling. A latch is provided to impart an increased resistance at the beginning of the downward movement of the charged bucket or to supply an additional charge of water to the bucket after it has commenced its downward stroke.
