Abstract

400,397. Cotters. STEVENS, A. H., 5, Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London.- (Weatherhead, A. J.; 708, Frankfort Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.) Sept. 3, 1932, No. 24637. [Classes 89 (i) and 89 (ii).] A cylindrical part 12 having a flange 10 is secured in a hole in a plate 6 by a cotter 7 which engages with recesses 14. The cotter is of U-shape and is held in position by an upstanding ring 21 and by its corners 22, 23 embedding in the plate 6. With hard plates, the corners 24, 25 also are sharp. A flange 26 may be provided for engagement by fixing tools. The legs of the cotter may have inclined surfaces 30. The cotter may be used to secure a choke control to the dashboard of a motor vehicle ; or in conjunction with a bolt having a number of pairs of recesses it may be used for securing together a number of plates.
