399,908. Preventing backfiring; mixing charge. WILLOUGHBY, L. I., 29, St. Andrews Place, Listerhills, Bradford, Yorkshire. May 10, 1932, No. 13383. [Class 7 (ii).] A device for preventing backfiring and for mixing the charge comprises a pair of gauze discs G, G<1> secured in the induction pipe, one or both of the discs being convexed to form a chamber between them. Extra air may be admitted to this chamber by a valve V. A baffle in the form of a twisted metal strip may be arranged across the chamber. The whole device is placed in a fitting A adapted to be secured between flanges on the induction pipe.
