Abstract
Fats and fatty oils, especially edible products such as lard, shortening, &c. are stabilized against oxidation by adding a small proportion (,001-,1 per cent or more) of guaiacum resin. The resin may be added to the fat &c. while melted prior to packaging, and after refining, for example, with caustic alkali or by hydrogenation, has been completed, or it may be added to bakery mixtures containing fats &c.ALSO:Edible fats and fatty oils, such as lard, shortening, &c., are stabilized against oxidation by adding a small proportion (,001.,1 per cent or more) of guaiacum resin.
