Abstract
399,557. Directive wireless signalling. FITZHERBERT, H., HORTON, C. E., COALES, J. F., and KENT, R. R., H.M. Signal School, R.N. Barracks, Portsmouth. April 8, 1932, No. 10115. [Class 40 (v).] A radiogoniometer comprises a fixed coil wound on a surface of revolution and two mutually perpendicular coils rotating therein, each moving coil being shaped to conform to a section of a surface of revolution coaxial with that of the fixed coil. As shown the fixed coil is wound longitudinally on a cylindrical surface and each moving coil is made in two equal halves S1, S<1>1, S2, S<1>2 on either side of the spindle. To compensate for the error introduced by the introduction of the spindle the spacing of the wires of the fixed coil such as A, B, C, D, near the diameter X Y is reduced while errors due to a cylindrical screening container are corrected by increasing the spacing between the outer windings such as P, Q. R, S. The aerials are connected to the movable coils and the transmitter or receiver to the fixed coil.
