Abstract

399,424. Loom pickers. KRUMPER, F., Jona, Rapperswil, Switzerland. April 20, 1933, No. 11594. [Class 142 (iii).] One or more metal inserts such as hard steel rings 4 are arranged in recesses 3a so that the picker spindle S engages the metal rings and the bore 3 of the picker. The body of the picker is made of a strip 1 of leather or raw hide bent around the guide hole 3 and flared at 5 to produce a conical opening for engagement by the shuttle tip. Reinforcing strips 6, 7 of raw hide are riveted to the folded strip 1 to produce the foot 9 and to strengthen the conical part 5 and the parts surrounding the rings 4. Instead of using separate strips, the same effect can be produced by upsetting the material of the body part 1. In some cases, resilient material such as leather or rubber may be riveted to the body of the picker between its inner and outer faces to form a striker for the shuttle.
