Abstract
399,083. Grates for furnaces &c. GROLL, C., Roanne, Loire, France. Feb. 10, 1933, No. 4154. Convention date, Feb. 17, 1932. [Class 51 (i).] A rotary grate for furnaces, gas-producers, &c. has its periphery 1, Fig. 1, which moves beneath the lower surface of the furnace wall formed of a number of segments 1c carried by a framework 2 supporting the grate bars (not shown), such segments being spaced apart to permit expansion. As shown in Fig. 3, the segments have upper inclined surfaces 4, 5 meeting at the edge 1a adjacent the wall face 6a. Adjustable plates 7 prevent the passage of air between the wall face and the segments. Instead of the plates 7, which may be of soft metal such as copper, aluminium, &c., wire brushes or asbestos fabric may be employed.
