[Class 131.] A hair clipper comprises a fixed plate a provided with forked teeth a<1> and a reciprocating plate b provided with teeth b<1> adapted to be moved across the slot between the limbs of the teeth a<1>, each tooth bl normally registering with one limb of a tooth a<1> and being provided with a cutting edge b<11> which coacts with a cutting edge all formed on the inside edge of the other limb. The under faces of the teeth b<1> are provided with recesses f, g so that the cutting edges b<11> are confined to the parts h, i, the hair facing the recesses /, g being left uncut. The recesses f, g are of different lengths on consecutive teeth. Wide gaps are provided between the teeth a<1>, the hair entering which is left uncut. The plate b is reciprocated by a lever e one arm of which is provided with a stud engaging a slot in the plate.
