Abstract

398,934. Hinges. DUTTON, J. H., Moreton House, Ridge Park, Bramhall, Cheshire. April 14, 1932, No. 10657. [Class 65 (ii).] A hinge arranged to hold a door or the like in various positions against wind or other light pressure comprises a bracket a having a pin a3 fixed in a projection a2, of which the upper surface has four concavities and convexities, and a strap b, for attachment to the door, having the part b<2> surrounding the pin shaped to engage the convexities of the part a<2> of the bracket; in the construction shown both ends of the barrel portion b<2> are similarly shaped, so that the strap b can be turned over and used for a door of the opposite hand. In a modification, the upper part of the bracket member a2 is formed separately and is held to the lower part by a dowel pin entering a hole in the latter, the hinge pin being fixed in the lower part and passing through the upper. In other modifications, the parts a2, b2 may have only two, instead of four, convexities and depressions, or the part a2 may have two convexities and the part b2 four depressions.
