Abstract

398,744. Tube-expanders. FAIRBROTHER, H., 30, Ludgate Hill, London.- (Slesazeck- Ultra-Maschinen Ges.; 24, Klixstrasse, Reinickendorf, Berlin.) March 10, 1933, No. 7351. [Class 83 (iv).] In a tube expander and flanger in which the expanding rollers 3 are passed outwards by a tapered mandrel 1 with a pin coupling 15, 16, between the roller head and the mandrel, automatically released when the resistance attains a predetermined amount, an auxiliary flanging roll 6 is provided. The roll 6 is rotated with the roller cage 25. As the mandrel is turned a sleeve 4 and a sleeve 17 screwed thereto are rotated until a pin 21 contacts with a pin 22 on a fixed sleeve 20. Axial movement between the parts then compresses a spring 18 to increase pressure on the roll 6. When the flanging is completed the sleeve 17 has moved to the right to disengage the pins 21, 22.
