[Class 83 (iv)] A tubular blank is reduced, without being placed on a mandrel by passing it through a series of roll passes, Fig. 3, the roll clearances between adjacent passes being set at different angles to each other to prevent ribs being formed on the tube. The tube may be rotated about its axis by skew-rolls or by guides. The rolls may be driven as in Specification 263,683, [Class 83 (iv)].
