Abstract

Organic thiosulphates, stated to have saponaceous properties, are prepared by reacting salts of thiosulphuric acid with esters, including thioesters, of aliphatic, hydroaromatic or aliphatic-aromatic hydroxy or mercapto compounds having at least six carbon atoms with carboxylic acids containing reactive halogen atoms. In an example, dodecylchloracetic ester is treated with sodium thiosulphate. The esters may be derived from benzyl alcohol, b -phenylethyl alcohol, naphthene and resin alcohols, polyhydric alcohols and mercaptans, hydroxy fatty acids and their esters and amides, oxyalkylethers and oxyalkylthioethers of the higher alcohols and oxyalkyl esters of fatty acids. The following halogenated carboxylic acids are also mentioned: monobromsuccinic, dichloracetic and a -bromlauric acid, benzylchloride-4-carboxylic acid, 2-chlorbenzoic acid and 5-sulpho-2-chlorbenzoic acid. The products may be used with saponaceous substances, fillers and compounds giving off oxygen.ALSO:Organic thiosulphates, stated to have saponaceous properties are prepared by reacting salts of thiosulphuric acid with esters, including thioesters, of aliphatic, hydroaromatic or aliphatic-aromatic hydroxy or mercapto compounds having at least six carbon atoms with carboxylic acids containing reactive halogen atoms. In an example, dodecylchloracetic ester is treated with sodium thiosulphate. The following halogenated carboxylic acids are also mentioned: monobromsuccinic, dichloracetic, and a -bromlauric acid, benzylchloride-4-carboxylic acid, 2-chlorbenzoic acid and 5-sulpho-2-chlor-benzoic acid. The products may be used with soaps, saponaceous substances, fillers, and compounds giving off oxygen.
