Abstract

Artificial filaments and particularly artificial silk are desulphurized by treatment in a bath with a substance selected from the group: salts of sulphuric acid esters of high molecular weight alcohols; the fatty acid esters of low aliphatic oxy-sulphonic acid salts, and the fatty acid amides of low aliphatic amidosulphonic acid salts. Treatment with either of the above types of compounds effects a scrooping action simultaneously with the desulphurizing action, so that subsequent scrooping is unnecessary. The compounds are used in baths of a 1,5 per cent to 2 per cent concentration at 80--90 DEG C. for 1--2 hours. Examples of the above classes of compounds are: (1) the sodium salt of the sulphuric acid ester of octadecanol. (2) The oleic acid ester of the sodium salt of oxyethyl sulphonic acid. (3) The oleic acid amide of the sodium salt of amino ethyl sulphonic acid.
