Abstract
397,033. Insulators. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC & MANUFACTURING CO., East Pittsburg, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Burr, G. A. ; 1007, Mifflin Avenue, Wilkins. burg, and Frakes, J. H. ; 5714, Howe Street, Pittsburg, both in Pennsylvania, U.S.A.) Feb. 20, 1933, No. 5232. Convention date, March 19, 1932. [Class 36.] An insulating bushing of the condenser type consisting of a number of metal cylinders separated by dielectric is so constructed that the capacity between each cylinder and the next is constant and the ends of the cylinders lie approximately on a sigmoid curve having a point of inflexion about midway and a considerable radius of curvature on either side of the point of inflexion. The Figure shows such a bushing, the two ends being adapted to be surrounded by air and oil respectively. For convenience of manufacture the ends of the cylinders may lie on a series of chords of a curve of the type described.
