[Class 87 (ii).] Apparatus of the kind described in Specification 290,050, [Class 87 (ii), Moulding plastic &c. substances], for the centrifugal moulding of blocks, slabs, and like constructional elements, is modified so that the rotating frame receives both the moulds and their carrying trolleys which are run in from a lateral track and run out again at the completion of the operation. Means for locking the moulds on the trolleys and the trolleys in the frame also are provided. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, tiers of charged .moulds, clamped by screwed bars 33 on to wheeled platforms 10, are run into a railed compartment in the framing 6 and are clamped therein by the screws 34. The shaft 4 is then rotated by power applied to the belt pulleys 14 until the diametrically-opposite cage on the framing comes into position for loading. When the frame is fully loaded the shaft 4 is rotated to compact the material in the moulds. A hand brake 19, with spring-actuated brake blocks and a screw setting-mechanism, is fitted to the shaft. In a modified construction three or more moulds may be symmetrically arranged about the axis 4 or a single mould may be balanced by a diametrically-opposed adjustable counterweight. In the latter case the loaded platforms are weighed before passing on to the apparatus and the counterweight correspondingly adjusted on a fixed scale on the machine. The moulds used may comprise a rabbeted baseplate 43, preferably faced with metal 48, surrounded by two L-shaped members 45 of angle-iron section. These two members are pivoted at one corner and latched or bolted together at the opposite corner. In some instances a clamped-on top plate is added which may be utilized to support a core.
