Abstract

396,926. Umbrella &c. carriers. KIERNAN, G., 23, Haddington Gardens, Belfast. July 7, 1932, No. 19201. [Class 133.] A carrier for umbrellas or other articles, for attachment to the handle rings &c. of a handbag, travelling case, or the like, comprises a wrapper adapted to form a tubular body of substantially elongated shape with or without means for closing the ends and with straps, elastic bands or other adjustable fastening or gripping means so that carriers of different girths adapted to hold various articles or different numbers of articles may be afforded. In the preferred form, Fig. 8, the ends of the wrapper comprise permanent tubular portions 1 to which chain attachment means are secured by tabs 2 and rings 3, the central portion, afforded by slits 1a, 1b, having a closure flap 18 which may be secured in different positions by fastening means 18a. Fig. 1 shows an umbrella &c. carrier 1 attached to a bag by chains 5 of adjustable length, the capacity being variable by engaging the flap 14 with one or other of the fasteners 9. An umbrella &c. carrier 1 mav be attached to a wallet 13 as shown either in full or dotted lines in Fig. 4 or a wallet provided with tabs 2 and rings 3 may be suspended from the lower edge of an umbrella &c. carrier constructed as in Fig. 1. Fig. 9 shows a carrier having the ends closed by flaps 19a secured by press-buttons 20.
