[Class 146 (ii).] An envelope is provided with the usual closure flap 3 and with an additional flap 4 on the bottom edge, both flaps being provided with slits 6, 7 whereby a tongue 31, 5 of each flap may be tucked through the slit of the other, the flaps having gummed areas for sealing down. The side flaps 2 are folded over the central portion of the blank, the flap 4 is then folded over the flaps 2 and the tongue 5 of the flap 4 passed through the slit 7 in the flap 3 ; the flap 3 is then folded downwardly and secured by its gummed surfaces to the flaps 2, 4, leaving its tongue 31 free to be inserted into the slit 6 in the flap 4. The tongue 3<1> is gummed at 9 on its outside surface and is adhered, inside the envelope, to the flap 4 ; the tongue 5 of the flap 4 is also gummed at 10, and is adapted to be folded and sealed over the slit 6 and the gummed tongue of the flap 3. An opening device, comprising a string secured along the fold of the flap 3 and provided at its outstanding ends with brass caps or the like, may be provided.
