Abstract
396,648. Washing gases. COS, J. J., 33, Park Vronesteyn, Voorburg, Holland. Feb. 28, 1933, No. 6151. [Class 55 (ii).] In cooling or purifying gases, e.g. from flue dust or lamp black by passage between wetted blades mounted on a shaft c revolving in a chamber a partly filled with liquid, the blades are formed as rods e arranged helically round the shaft. The rods, which are of cast iron and are straight or curved, are added to form at least one circle round the shaft in end-view. Water is supplied at g and withdrawn at h, sludge falling into a channel k provided with a helical agitator which is occasionally revolved, water added at m being withdrawn with the sludge at l.
