Abstract
396,278. Cables combined with tube structures; couplings. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR, 8, Fleminggatan, Stockholm. Dec., 23, 1932, No. 36442. Convention date, Dec. 28, 1931. Addition to 318,244, [Class 36, Electricity, Conducting &c.]. [Classes 36 and 38 (i).] In a combined pneumatic and electric conductor of the kind described in the parent Specification comprising a flexible tube having one or more electric conductors extending through channels in the wall of the tube and wherein the electric conductors have a length substantially greater than that of the channels, the slack in the electric conductors is provided by coiling them helically within the channels. The Figure shows helically coiled conductors F, G extending through channels H, K in a rubber tube A, the ends of the conductors extending through radial holes in the wall of the tube and making contact respectively with inner and outer contact sleeves D, E applied to the end of the tube. The sleeve E contacts with a ring B to which the conductor F is soldered. The inner sleeve D is slotted to increase its resiliency, the slots preferably being very narrow over a portion of their length C to prevent inward collapse of the sleeve. The conductors are inserted into the channels by winding them on a wire or like core which is then introduced into the channel, the core being finally withdrawn. The ends of the channels may be closed by rubber plugs L.
