Abstract

396,240. Stuffing-bos packing. CHICAGO RAWHIDE MFG. CO., 1267, Elston Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A. Sept. 27, 1932, No. 26843. Convention date, Sept. 30, 1931. [Class 122 (v).] Packing device to prevent leakage of oil along a shaft and adapted for assembly with the shaft 11 within a concentric cylindrical housing 10, comprises a cup-shaped sheet metal stamping 12 containing a leather packing 13, the radia portion 25 of which seats against an annular seat 18 and is held in position by a washer 15 secured in the cup. A reduced portion 27 of the cup contains an annular spring 14 which presses the packing or to the shaft. Specification 289,765, [Class 122 (v), Stuffing- boxes &c.], is referred to.
