Abstract

396,199. Hoists ; cage lifts. COLDMAN, J. W., 35, Hornsey Road, Holloway, London. May 26, 1932, No. 14959. [Class 78 (iii).] Operating mechanism for a cage lift, hoist, or the like comprises two endless chains passing round sprocket wheels which are arranged one above the other and always driven in the same direction, the chains being arranged on opposite sides of the cage &c. and connected by a member supporting the cage &c. As shown in Fig. 1, the cage D operating between floors A, B is supported on a rod 8 connecting chains 2 passing round sprockets 3, 4, the sprockets 3 being driven through worm gearing 7 by an electric motor 5. The cage may be suspended by a pair of links from the rod 8. In a modification, Fig. 5. pairs of sprockets 3, 3a, 4, 4a are arranged adjacent the floors A, B, the rod 8 travelling along guides 10 in the extreme positions.
