Abstract
396,197. Fusible cut-outs. FERGUSON PAILIN, Ltd. and PAILIN, G., Buckley Street, Higher Openshaw, Manchester. May 25, 1932, No. 14833. [Class 38 (i).] An oil-immersed fusible cut-out comprises a unit made in the form of a tubular double-ended type electric lamp with the glass tube perforated to allow of free access of oil to the fusible element, the unit being surrounded by an insulating shield adapted to prevent the formation of corona upon the fuse wire. As shown in the Figure, the double-ended lamp a is held by clips in an insulating shield e which is adapted to prevent formation of corona upon the fuse wire f. The wire f is supported by wires f<1> from the glass beam f<2> which is supported by shock absorbers g. Holes h in the glass tube allow free access of oil to the fuse wire. The Provisional Specification states that the casing e is formed of insulating material and contains metal sleeves insulated from each other, the casing acting as an insulating condenser upon rupture of the fuse wire.
