Abstract

2 : 7-Dihydroxynaphthalene-3 : 6-dicarboxylic acid is obtained by treating 2 : 7-dihydroxynaphthalene alkali salts with carbon dioxide under increased pressure at temperatures above 250 DEG C., or by treating the naphthol mixed with alkali carbonate, with carbon dioxide similarly, or by treating 2 : 7-dihydroxynaphthalene-3-carboxylic acid with carbon dioxide as above.
