Abstract

Substituted phenol-carboxylic acids are obtained by treating an alkali metal salt of 1 : 2-dimethyl- or 1-methyl-2-halogen-4-hydroxybenzene with carbon dioxide under pressure. The COOH group enters an oposition to the OH group.
