395,363. Grid resistances ; couplings. EXPANDED METAL CO., Ltd., Burwood House, Caxton Street, WILLIAMS, E. T., 5, Meadway Close, Golder's Green, both in London, and MELSOM, S. W., 28, Lansdowne Road, West Hartlepool. Jan. 12, 1932, No. 954. [Classes 37 and 38 (i).] In order to prevent local heating or hot-spots in resistance elements of expanded metal wherein connection is made to solid members which may be integral with the resistance element, and wherein a change in current direction occurs in the connection member, the connection portion is slotted or cut away near the part in which the current direction changes, thus preventing the current from crowding at the points of connection. Connectors UE formed integrally with the mesh SL are provided with T- or triangularly shaped slots T between the limbs of the mesh which constitute a zigzag path for the current. The connectors may comprise unexpanded metal edges formed upon a mesh of expanded metal.
