Abstract
394,349. Boots &c. MAVAUT, O., 85, Rue du Bois de Linthout, WoluwÚ St. Lambert, Brussels. Dec. 21, 1931, No. 35301. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1930. Addition to 375,846 and 375,895. [Class 17 (ii).] The invention is a modification of that described in Specification 375,846 and is characterized in that air holes 3 in ventilated rubber footwear are arranged in the fore part of the sole at the tread or lowest part when being worn and are surmounted by an imperforate closing member 11, shown reversed, which makes watertight contact with the bottom of the cavity 4 into which the air holes 3 extend. The closing member 11 has a longitudinal channel 7 in its lower face connecting with the air holes 3 so that water can drain out without wetting the insole or foot. The passages 3 which pass completely through the sole are covered with a countersunk gauze canvas 5 and by the member 11 with passages 7 which pass preferably to the waist of the shoe. At this point another channel 7<1> in the sole passes down towards the toe. This channel is covered by a perforated insole.
