Abstract

394,127. Securing railway rails to sleepers. TOYAMA, S., 5, 2-chome-, Tsukiji, Kyobashiku, Tokio. May 17, 1932, No. 14068. [Class 104 (ii).] Rails are secured to concrete sleepers by means of a bolt 4 having a tapered portion 5 fitting, with a washer 6, a tapered bore in the sleeper. The nut 8 on the bolt presses a clamp R7 on to the rail flange. The clamps have railengaging recesses at diagonally opposite corners, and these recesses are at different distances from the bolt hole, so that by reversing or interchanging them the gauge of the rails may be altered. A plate 9 may be arranged between the sleeper and the clamps. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the clamps have projections on the upper and lower surfaces at different distances from the bolt hole and adapted to engage a tooth surface 14 on the sleeper.
