Abstract
393,816. Speed governors for turbines. TURBINENFABRIK BRœCKNER, KANIS, & CO., 15, Industriegelõnde, Dresden, Germany. Sept. 21, 1932, No. 26265. Convention date, Sept. 24, 1931. [Classes 57 and 110 (iii).] A centrifugal governor comprises spring pockets 10 provided with knife edges 14 bearing against bell cranks 9, pivoted on knife edges 8 and connected by a ball joint to the sleeve 16 so that a helical motion is imparted to the sleeve. The sleeve 16 is mounted upon balls 17 housed in grooves in the shaft and a bush 20 is mounted upon a ball bearing 19 on the sleeve. A fork 23 bears against the collar 21, one arm 231 engaging a pin 22 and the other arm 2311 engaging a ball 25 housed in a recess in the collar. The fork 23 is pivoted upon a knife edge 23a and a pointed rod 26 engages the fork 23 and the regulating valve 27. The governor is shown as housed between a generator 5 and a turbine 4, a partition 39 being provided with a leak off 42 for steam passing the carbon packing 36.
