Abstract

393,791. Fluid-actuated valves. DARTELEN, J. VAN, 70, Badhuisstraat, Vlissingen, Holland. Aug. 4,1932, No. 21938. [Class 135.] In regulating mechanism for delivering a constant flow of fluid, the supply pipe and the discharge pipe of a pump are connected to two parts of a chamber separated by a flexible member, which on the occurrence of a difference of pressure between the two pipes, closes directly one of them. The distances of the planes in which the two pipes open from the flexible member or its surfaces of contact with these planes are adjustable. The device in Fig. 1 comprises plates 1, 2 clamping a non-corrodible metal member 3. Fluid entering by the inlet 4 passes through the narrow space between the membrane 3 and a threaded flanged member 5 and through ducts 6, 7 to the pump. Fluid leaving the pump traverses ducts 8, 9 and a similar narrow space between members 3, 10 leading to the outlet 11. The members 5, 10, which are similar, are adjustable in the threaded bores 12, such adjustment being limited by the number of removable rings 14 positioned behind each of their flanges. In another form, the flanges of the members 5, 10 consist of a number of co-planar rings of different diameters, which may be removed successively to reduce the area of contact of the members 3, 5 and 3, 10. The two forms of adjustment may be embodied in one construction.
