Abstract

393,596. Control of several D.C. motors. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.-(Cameron Machine Co. ; 61, Poplar Street, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.) Dec. 4, 1931, No. 33715. [Class 38 (iii).] In a web-winding machine three electric motors M<5>, M<6>, and M<9> driving feed rollers are energized by a generator G, and the shunt windings S<5>, S<6>, and S<9> of the motors, and the field winding FW of the generator G are supplied with current from a generator G<1>. The shunt windings of the motors are controlled by rheostats R<5>, R<6>, and R<9>, and the field winding FW by a rheostat R. When an arm A is moved to close the circuit of the motors an arm r in the rheostat R is moved with it to control the field winding FW of the generator G, and also the shunt windings of the motors as they are brought up to speed. When it is desired to vary the power supplied to, and consequently the speed of, any roll, one of rheostats R<5>, R<6>, R<9> is manipulated.
